beqomPay Suite - Compensation Management feature release notes
beqomPay Suite 23.0
Data model extension alerts in Compensation Rounds
In this version of the application, compensation rounds dynamically respond to updates in the underlying data model, improving transparency and administrative control.
When the data model is extended, the system now triggers an automatic alert within the compensation round, providing visibility into what exactly has changed, including newly added fields and entities. The Last updates section in Workbench > Compensation Management > Compensation Rounds > Round Management logs these changes accordingly. Additionally, new fields automatically appear in the Team planner view configuration but are non-visible by default to ensure controlled exposure. Admins can enable or disable these fields in the Team planner view before making them available for use.

Added fields visible in model details
This enhancement eliminates silent data changes that impact compensation rounds. It allows admins to fully control new data introduced into planning. It also increases trust and traceability of data model updates.
Last updates section expanded with audit trail
We have significantly enhanced the Last updates section in Workbench > Compensation Management > Compensation Rounds > Round Management. The application now offers a comprehensive audit trail of compensation round activities.
The section tracks all major actions, such as publish events, draft creation and deletion, data model updates and extensions, bonus plan changes, and data loads impacting the round. The UI shows five most recent updates, with full history available via the View all updates button. When the user clicks the button, the All updates drawer appears, with pagination for large histories. Each entry specifies the user who performed the action and a timestamp.

All updates with pagination
Importantly, the new audit trail is fully compatible with existing compensation rounds that have already been created. Historical actions, including those prior to this release, are also visible. The system continues to log data updates even when the data model itself does not change.
These improvements bring a single point of reference for tracking compensation rounds. They strengthen governance and compliance while enabling easier troubleshooting. This, in turn, ensures greater transparency across stakeholders.
Visual guide for calculated columns
A built-in, contextual Calculation guide now helps users work with calculated columns more efficiently within the Calculation workspace.
Accessing the Calculation guide from the Calculation workspace
The step-by-step visual guide is automatically displayed on first use – it appears on the page when the user creates or opens a calculated column for the first time in the Team planner view. It provides inline guidance for auto-suggestions via Ctrl + Space, data navigation through dot notation, and understanding of properties, operators, and functions. Once dismissed, the guide stays hidden unless manually reopened, making it available on demand at any time.
Step 1 of the guide
The new feature reduces the learning curve for advanced calculations, improves accuracy and adoption of calculated columns, and supports both new and experienced users.

Advanced workflow configuration
This release introduces advanced workflows in Compensation Management to provide greater flexibility, configurability, and transparency in compensation review processes across organizations. The enhancement enables Compensation Administrators to design, manage, and adapt workflows to fit various review models, including hierarchical and collaborative approaches.
The Workflow step within compensation round configuration has a refreshed look, allowing users to configure workflows using predefined templates or build custom workflows from scratch. A flexible UI supports complex workflow design.
View of the workflow built from scratch
Two standard templates are now available. The first, Hierarchy-driven template, offers a sequential approval flow based on organizational hierarchy. Preconfigured with four steps, it accommodates complex processes. This template is ideal for structured approval chains such as Manager to Manager+1 to HRBP. The second, Collaborative template, features a single-step workflow where multiple actors work in parallel. Using this template, all stakeholders can contribute simultaneously until a deadline. Therefore, the collaborative template suits calibration or joint decision-making scenarios.
For organizations with unique needs, the custom workflow builder allows admins to add personalized workflow steps, specify step names, and assign actors per step. This facilitates creating fully flexible workflows that are tailored to company-specific processes.
Admins can also define actor permissions and field-level control per step, including Step actions such as Approve and Reject, as well as Field permissions set to either Read (view only) or Write (edit/propose values). Multiple permission configurations within a single step are supported. Additionally, time-based workflow progression can be enabled, automatically moving workers to the next step when the step end date is reached. This reduces manual intervention and streamlines time-driven processes.
Users can edit workflows even when a round is already in progress. However, adding, deleting, or reordering steps will reset all workers to the first step upon publishing. The system provides a clear warning before applying such changes.
Workflow editing for an in-progress round
Moreover, we have updated the Planner experience with improved workflow visibility. Three new columns are available in the Comp review: Action (for example, Submit), Workflow Step, and Workflow Status. Workflow tracking is now per worker, and users see contextual actions based on their current step. Submitting a worker moves them to the next workflow step. Currently, the application offers single worker submission, with bulk submission planned for a future release.
New Planner columns
Importantly, applying a workflow template overrides existing configuration and cannot be undone. Editing workflows mid-process may also significantly impact workflow progression due to the reset behavior described above.
The advanced workflow feature supports multiple compensation governance models. It enables fine-grained control over approvals and data visibility. Time-based progression reduces operational overhead through automation, while the updated Planner experience enhances process transparency.

Proposal management in Compensation Rounds
Version 22.1 offers proposal management, a new capability in Compensation Rounds that allows administrators to prepopulate compensation values and provide controlled flexibility for adjustments during the planning process. This feature improves efficiency, consistency, and governance by combining system-driven defaults with user-level adjustments through overrides.
Compensation Admins can now define default proposal values for compensation elements. With proposal management, values are automatically populated in the Planner, which facilitates organizational standardization and faster planning cycles. Users can configure Proposal management within the Team planner view step of the compensation round configuration wizard. The feature is available for compensation element columns. Admins can enable or disable proposal management via a toggle and define how values are prefilled using existing calculated/reference fields or custom formulas through advanced calculations.
Proposal management feature for a comp element
Proposal management toggle and icon
Full support for dynamic calculation logic allows for scenarios such as calculating base pay as contracted salary plus an adjustment factor. Such formula-driven proposals enable alignment with company-specific compensation strategies.
To improve usability and transparency, we have added visual indicators to the Planner. A proposal management icon indicates that a compensation element is system-prepopulated and provides quick access to configuration details, while an override (pencil) icon appears when a user modifies a prepopulated value, clearly distinguishing adjusted values from defaults.
Value edited in a column prepopulated with proposal management
Editability of prepopulated values is governed by workflow configuration and field permissions per step, ensuring proper control over who can view values and adjust proposals.
Users such as Managers and HRBPs can modify system-prepopulated values. Once saved, the value becomes an override, and the system retains both the original default value and the user-adjusted value. Overridden values remain fully preserved even when data loads are refreshed, proposal management configuration is updated, or the compensation round is republished. This ensures data stability and user trust. Users can also revert overrides at any time by clicking the pencil icon and selecting Restore value, which replaces the adjusted value with the latest prepopulated value.
Restore value option
Crucially, overrides take precedence over system updates – a republish or data reload will not overwrite user adjustments. The restore action is the only way to reapply updated defaults.
The proposal management capability reduces manual effort via automated prepopulation. It ensures consistency and compliance with compensation policies, enables controlled flexibility for managers and HR, and increases transparency with clear visual indicators. It also supports advanced scenarios with formula-driven logic.

Dependency awareness in Compensation Rounds
With this release, we introduce dependency awareness enhancements in Compensation Rounds to boost configuration integrity, transparency, and user guidance. Thanks to these improvements, compensation elements and rules remain logically consistent by preventing actions that would break existing configurations.
The system now actively detects dependencies in real time across eligibility rules, budget configurations, guidelines, and conditional formatting. This ensures that all configuration changes are validated against existing usage. Compensation elements cannot be disabled or unselected if they are currently in use. For example, an element like Increase % cannot be removed if it is referenced in conditional formatting, guidelines, or other rules. Such a logic hinders accidental configuration breaks and data inconsistencies.
Additionally, a new View dependencies option is now available. It provides clear visibility into where a compensation element is used and which rules or configurations are impacted, enabling faster troubleshooting and informed decision-making. To disable or modify a dependent element, users must first remove or update the associated rules, as the system enforces a logical sequence of actions to prevent invalid configurations at source. These dependency checks are applied consistently throughout compensation round setup, element configuration, and rule definition layers, guaranteeing end-to-end consistency in system behavior.
Active dependencies signaled within column configuration
Notably, dependency constraints are strictly enforced – users must resolve all dependencies before disabling elements or removing configurations.
The dependency awareness enhancements improve data integrity and system reliability. They reduce the risk of misconfiguration and broken logic and upgrade the user experience with clear guidance. Dependency visibility also speeds up troubleshooting. Overall, the feature supports scalable configuration in complex compensation setups.

New calculation workspace
With version 21.1 of Pay Suite, we have redesigned the workspace for advanced calculations. A new wider, dedicated environment now facilitates creating and editing calculated columns within compensation rounds. Replacing the previous drawer-based interface, the full-width Calculation workspace provides significantly more space for formula building, for a more pleasant use experience and added efficiency.
Accessing the Calculation workspace via the Calculated column drawer
For added clarity, advanced calculation functions are now organized by category, such as Aggregation, Conditional, DateTime, Math, and String. Additionally, the list of functions has been expanded to support a broader range of use cases.
Expandable and collapsible sections help maximize the available working area, while searchable Functions and Properties panels allow users to locate what they need quickly. Operators include built-in tooltips, descriptions, and examples, providing guidance directly in the editor.
Function categories and operators in the Calculation workspace
The new workspace improves the management of both non-conditional and conditional formulas to make logic easier to construct.
Once editing is complete, users can seamlessly return to the Calculated column configuration, maintaining a smooth and uninterrupted workflow.
Together, these enhancements bring better visibility, intuitive navigation, and clearer structure to the formula creation process. This, in turn, simplifies complex operations and increases productivity for compensation administrators who work with advanced calculations.

Planner export to Excel
Starting with 21.1 release of Pay Suite, users can export Planner compensation round data directly into a password-protected Excel file. This capability enables review and data manipulation outside of the platform.
The export is accessible from the action menu in Planner > Compensation > Comp review.
Export to Excel action in the Planner
The application now offers two export options:
The current page, with all visible columns and data as displayed in the Planner, for example, the 25 workers that the user can see on the screen.
All pages, with all workers available to the user in the compensation round under access permissions.
Active filters are applied to the export, which means that users can extract targeted datasets. The resulting file contains only the details that are relevant to the user's selection.
To protect sensitive compensation information, a password is required for the export. This ensures that data remains secure even when accessed outside the platform.
Password setting before the file export
The Excel export feature provides flexibility for offline analysis in a familiar format, while the mandatory password protection and permission-based scoping ensure that security and compliance standards are maintained throughout.

Advanced calculations
The advanced calculations capability brings formula-based calculated columns to the compensation planner, enabling administrators to define dynamic calculations directly within compensation rounds. Users can now create calculated columns using a new expression builder, accessible from the Calculated column drawer in the Team planner view step of compensation round configuration wizard.
The expression builder offers a plain-text formula input, auto-suggestions, real-time validation to help users correct errors incrementally, and a helpful tooltip with descriptions and examples. Calculated columns support both Decimal and String types, as well as conditional (IF / THEN / ELSE) and non-conditional formulas. Formulas can reference three data sources: the Data model, Round inputs, such as proposals and custom fields, and Round calculations including calculated fields and calculations from other round configuration steps.
Additionally, a wide range of fields is now available for use in formulas: calculations based on other calculated fields, custom fields, eligibility (eligible flag and rule name), budget (output and rule name), guidelines (values, flags, and rule name), guaranteed amount (output and rule name), and conditional formatting (rule name).

Separate salary and bonus compensation rounds
Independent compensation round types can now be configured in the compensation round configuration wizard. Previously, the system included salary rounds automatically during the creation of a bonus round. Starting with version 21.0 of beqom Pay Suite, administrators can choose to set up a Salary round only, a Bonus round only, or a combined Salary + Bonus round in the Round details step of the wizard. The workflow adapts accordingly: selecting Salary only will exclude the Bonus calculation step, while selecting Bonus will make the Bonus formula calculation step available. The selected round type is also visible in the compensation round list (under Workbench > Compensation Management > Compensation Rounds) for clear reference.
These enhancements help organizations run bonus cycles independently from salary reviews, simplify workflows for single-purpose rounds, and configure compensation processes more flexibly.

Compensation round management portal
With version 19.0 of the Pay Suite platform, we are introducing a new centralized portal view for the management of compensation rounds. This brand new interface comes with a new entry point for in progress and closed comp rounds, whereby the View action in the comp round list is replaced with the Round management action. Clicking the name of a round in the list now opens a consolidated management screen that offers access to all round-related functions from a single place: overview, statements and payroll, while offering a robust framework for future comp-related modules.
This new portal offers admins and HRBPs enhanced visibility and a more intuitive compensation round lifecycle management through a more user-friendly interface.
Comp round overview in the management portal
From a functional perspective, the Overview tab compensation round management portal displays tiles mirroring the steps of the comp round configuration wizard, with each tile opening a right-hand drawer containing details regarding the step.
Located on the right of the tiles, the Last updates section offers useful information about publishing/republishing activities, notifications regarding data model changes, as well as notifications regarding bonus plan updates. This convenient information panel makes for easy auditing of configuration changes while offering an immediate understand of the state and setup of the configuration round.
Bonus plan change alerts & pending draft workflow
When a bonus plan is edited and republished, a visual alert is now displayed in the row corresponding to affected compensation rounds in the comp round list. In addition, the creation of a pending draft is now required is now required to reflect bonus plan changes and other changes to the comp round configuration. When a change is performed to the bonus plan linked to a published or in-progress comp round, the button Edit of the action menu becomes Create pending draft. Upon clicking this button, the user will need to go through and review all the steps of the comp round configuration wizard before being able to republish the round. It is however possible to go directly to a specific section of the wizard directly from the comp round management portal.
This feature offers improves the comp round lifecycle management process by eliminating silent configuration drift, ensuring visibility of plan changes and protecting the integrity of the calculations mid-cycle.
Pending draft creation entry points
Mandatory column display name for the Planner view
Column display labels (i.e. the column names that will be displayed in the Planner), are now required and autopopulated by the system, preventing missing or unclear display labels, and reducing end-user confusion.
Grid preview in the Team planner view step
For greater control of the layout Planner grid and faster configuration validation before publishing a round, the Team planner view step of the compensation round configuration wizard, admins and HRBPs, can now preview the column names, the grouping, the formatting and the colors of the Planner when the round is in draft state. This new preview is available through a Preview grid button located at the top of the column selection panel in the Team planner view step.

Payout curve information in compensation statements
To fully align with goal-based bonus rules and offer workers more transparency over their compensation, compensation statements can now include information related to the payout curve, including goal names, curve type, performance level, payment resulting from the curve and thresholds
beqomPay Suite 18.1
Proxy access in Planner > Compensation
We have introduced a new Proxy feature in Compensation Managepayment which enables authorized users to act on behalf of managers with Planner-only access. This functionality allows designated users, such as HR teams, support staff, and compensation administrators, to enter data and make changes in Planner > Compensation on behalf of another user. The proxy experience follows our established Performance Management proxy model, with a clear banner indicating when someone is acting on behalf of another user.
For complete transparency and compliance, all actions taken in proxy mode are fully tracked in the audit trail, clearly showing both the proxying user and the manager they're representing (for example, "Anna Brown proxying Mitchell Cross"). This enhancement streamlines support workflows and enables more efficient troubleshooting and assistance for managers navigating the compensation process.

Enhanced HRBP security in Planner
Enhanced access controls were implement in order to improve the HRBP experience in Planner. Previously, HRBPs could view all compensation rounds in the Planner, regardless of their assignment status. As a result, HRBPs would see empty worker lists for non-assigned comp rounds, which led to confusion and dampened the experience in the Planner.
With this update, HRBPs now have streamlined visibility: they can only see compensation rounds to which they've been explicitly assigned, while non-assigned comp rounds are completely hidden from view. This targeted approach delivers a cleaner, more intuitive interface that ensures HRBPs can focus exclusively on the compensation rounds relevant to their responsibilities.
Enhanced statement generation for bonus compensation elements
The compensation statement PDF was improved to provide more accurate and comprehensive bonus-related information. The enhanced PDF now delivers clearer visibility into variable compensation components with properly formatted data presentation.
Improvements include:
Correct rendering of all goal-related elements, namely goal names, goal plans, goal targets, goal weights, goal achievement within ranges and payout curves.
Removal of unclear placeholder text that caused confusion.
Cleaner, more structured presentation of bonus and variable pay components.

beqomPay Suite 18.0
Possibility to update bonus plans
Release 18.0 introduces a major enhancement to bonus plan management: bonus plans in Ready (Published) status can now be updated, including refreshing goals sourced from the Performance Management module. Previously, published bonus plans were locked and uneditable. This update enables controlled, version-safe editing through a pending draft mechanism.
The enhancement improves flexibility for Compensation administrators, supports late-cycle goal updates, and aligns bonus plan behavior with existing workflows used in compensation rounds.
Here are the major changes implemented to bonus plans:
Edition & update of published bonus plans: users can now create a pending draft from a published bonus plan, update existing plan configuration and attached goals and republish the plan to replace the active version.
Pending draft creation
Automatic detection of updates in attached goal plans: when a goal plan created under the Performance Management module of the application and linked to a bonus plan is updated, the system now displays an alert icon on the bonus plan, displays a notification in the bonus plan view and allows the user to refresh and apply the updated goals after creating a pending draft. This ensures that the bonus plan stays in synch with evolving goal definitions.
Alert display in the bonus plan list
Pending draft workflow for published plans: when changes are detected, the user can click Create pending draft. The system then opens an editable draft version of the bonus plan and the user can then refresh the goals, edit the configuration and save as draft or publish the changes. Upon publication, the pending draft replaces the currently published version. Users see a confirmation pop-up to prevent accidental overwrites and column Published date is visible in the list of bonus plans.
Goal plan change detection
Goal refresh in draft bonus plans: if a bonus plan is in draft state, the system detects goal changes automatically. The user can simply click Edit > Refresh & update goals without additional drafting steps.
No automatic updates to compensation rounds: republishing a bonus plan does not automatically update active or draft compensation rounds that use it. Administrators must review the bonus plan usage details, decide whether rounds need to be refreshed, and manually update or republish affected compensation rounds. This ensures administrators retain control over changes that may affect in-progress cycles.
Version management alignment with compensation rounds: the new pending draft experience mirrors the existing logic used in compensation rounds. Namely, a draft can be modified freely, publishing the draft replaces the previous version, and users can also save changes and keep the plan in draft if not ready to publish.
This new feature offers greater flexibility in managing goal-based bonus plans late in the process, reduces dependency on the performance team timing, improves accuracy as goal plan updates can be incorporated even after publication, and ensures controlled versioning to prevent unexpected changes impacting compensation cycles.

Configurable worker compensation history in the Planner drawer
Compensation administrators can now configure which compensation elements are displayed in the Worker compensation history section within the Planner drawer.
Previously, the compensation history view in the Planner drawer was preconfigured by the system and could not be customized. With this release, Compensation admins and Global compensation admins can define which compensation elements (such as Base Pay, Bonus, Life Insurance, etc.) should appear in the history view, and how many historical events to display (by default, 5 events are displayed, with the possibility to display 10, 15, or 20).
The configuration of the feature is available within Workbench > Compensation Management > Team planner view > Edit > Feature enablement > Worker compensation history/
History events are triggered by changes in amount (based on the effective date of change) in the corresponding compensation elements. Static reloads without data change do not create new events.
This feature offers greater flexibility for customers with frequent salary or element changes and improves the Planner experience with clearer, more relevant history data.

Decimal precision standardization in statement generation
Version 17.1 of Pay Suite introduces consistent decimal precision in numeric fields in generated compensation statements.
All numeric fields in statement templates now have a default precision of two decimals, improving data readability and presentation consistency across all documents. This update applies automatically to all templates and generated statements.
This change delivers a cleaner presentation and ensures consistent, professional formatting across all customer-facing documents.
Decimal precision harmonization in compensation statements
Unified application theme configuration
Administrators can now define a global theme (i.e., application color theme) for the entire application under Workbench > Platform Setup > Appearance.
Theme configuration is now applied at system-level rather than per user. Any color theme selected by an Administrator automatically applies to all users within the tenant, independent of personal preferences or browser settings.
This update ensures a consistent look across the organization, simplifies interface management through centralized control, and improves reliability by removing browser-level dependencies.

Bulk delete custom columns & calculated columns
Version 17.0 of the Pay Suite platform introduces the possibility for administrators to perform bulk actions on both custom columns and calculated columns in the Team planner view step of the compensation round configuration wizard, for a more streamlined Planner configuration maintenance, particularly during setup iterations or customer-specific view adjustments.
Previously, custom columns and calculated columns needed to be disabled or removed one by one, making setup adjustment time-consuming for compensation admins.
With this new capability, admins have access to:
Bulk enable/disable: toggle multiple columns on/off for faster configuration management.
Bulk delete: remove multiple custom or calculated columns in a single action.
Confirmation: safeguard against accidental deletion with a confirmation pop-up.
Bulk deletion action
In addition to the confirmation pop-up before deletion, if one or several columns that the user is attempting to delete have dependencies, a validation pop-up is displayed with the details of the dependencies and gives the user the possibility to download a log file containing more information.

Prorated target bonus display in Planner
This new display option brings prorated target bonus values directly into the Planner, enhancing transparency and accuracy in bonus reviews. When both Time in role (TiR) and Leave of absence (LoA) factors are configured in the bonus plan, the feature ensures accurate visibility of target bonuses that have been adjusted to reflect each worker's unique situation. By displaying these real prorated values, reviewers can make more informed decisions with compensation data that truly represents individual circumstances.
The key capabilities of this feature are as follows:
Configurable display name and tooltip for user clarity.
Automatic calculation of prorated target bonus (= sum(Target Bonus of each situation × TiR × LoA)).
Full integration into the existing Bonus compensation element configuration.
Prorated target bonus configuration in the Bonus comp element
Manager filter in Planner
The Planner now features a powerful Manager filter that significantly improves data visibility for HRBPs and senior managers overseeing large worker populations. This enhancement simplifies review and analysis workflows by enabling users to quickly narrow their Planner views to specific manager groups, making it easier to focus on relevant worker data and streamline compensation decisions.
Here are the most notable capabilities of this new feature:
New Manager filter integrated into the existing filter panel.

In progress compensation round deletion
The latest version of beqom introduces an exciting new capability for compensation management: the possibility to delete compensation rounds in In progress status. Available only to Global compensation admins (not to Compensation admins), this feature offers advanced flexibility when it comes to the management of rounds.
Once a compensation round is deleted, it no longer appears in the list of comp rounds in Workbench > Compensation Management > Compensation Rounds; however, this is a "soft delete" process, meaning that the record of the round is retained in the database.
For added security, the user performing this action is required to enter the code of the comp round in the round deletion confirmation pop-up.

Collaborative workflow
A new Collaborative workflow feature has been introduced in Compensation Management, offering greater flexibility and control in managing compensation rounds. This enhancement enables dynamic adjustments to permissions and access for key roles—such as HRBP, Manager, and Manager+1—even while a compensation round is in progress. The feature provides increased flexibility in handling in-progress compensation reviews, improves collaboration across multiple roles without disrupting the ongoing workflow, and gives administrators enhanced control over access, visibility, and contribution rights.
Administrators can assign Read & Write, Read-Only, or No Access to each role, as shown in the following illustration:
Collaboration settings
Permissions can be changed at any stage of a compensation round, even while it is in progress. For role visibility, Read & Write allows users to submit proposals; Read-Only grants visibility without the ability to make proposals; and No Access hides the round from the role entirely.
Key dates can now be defined for permitted edits. Collaboration settings can also be tailored for each role to align with organizational needs.
From the HRBP view, HRBPs can view compensation rounds and submit proposals for their assigned workers. In the Manager view, managers are empowered to submit proposals for both direct and indirect reports within the collaborative workflow. The experience is consistent with existing workflows for salary and bonus reviews. All proposals are tracked in the Audit trail in Planner.

Conditional formatting in compensation rounds
A new Conditional formatting feature has been added to Compensation Management, enhancing the Planner experience. This functionality allows administrators to highlight important data points, bringing visibility to exceptions or key values through configurable rules. This improves visibility for managers on key compensation elements, offers flexible and configurable rules to match organizational needs, and provides an enhanced user experience with clear visual indicators for data-driven decision-making.
Compensation administrators can define custom formatting rules for individual columns directly in the Team Planner.
Rules can be based on fixed values, formulas, or comparisons with other fields, and they support logical operators and mathematical expressions. These rules allow for the assignment of a background color to highlight cells that meet specific conditions, as illustrated in the following picture:
Rule formatting drawer
Each rule can have a name and an optional description for clarity. Rules can be prioritized by dragging and dropping them, ensuring that higher-priority rules override lower ones when conditions overlap, as shown in the following image:

Payout curve configuration wizard improvement
The payout curve configuration wizard was improved in this version to offer compensation admins a better, more intuitive experience when creating a configuring payout curves in the beqom platform. The redesigned Payout curve settings page offers additional visual elements to help users define performance-based payout rules aligned with their company's compensation strategy, namely:
Curve type selection: the selection of the curve type is now performed using visual card that indicate at-a-glance the type of curve that is being selected (Linear curve or Step curve).
Direction selection: it is now possible to select a growing or falling direction for the payout curve, which will then influence the validation rules (i.e. increasing or decreasing values).
Rules & guidelines: a dedicated section in the page offers direction-specific rules based on the curve direction they have chosen.
Result units: a drop-down list enables users to select the type of unit they want to use for the result of the payout curve.
Threshold input: compensation managers can enter start and end results, as well as start and end payout values corresponding to the curve direction they selected.
Payout curve preview: a preview of the curve is automatically generated once all the required fields have been filled in (with the result represented on the X-axis and the payout represented on the Y-axis) and are updated in real-time as changes are made to the threshold values.
The following figure illustrates the new options available in the Payout curve settings page of the configuration wizard:
Payout curve settings improvements
Additional improvements to payout curves:
The maximum limit of 120% that was previously applied on payout curve was removed; payout curves are no longer capped.
A view mode is now available for payout curves that are in Ready or Deactivated status. Accessible from the contextual menu displayed when clicking the three dots at the far right of a row in the payout curve table (Workbench > Compensation Management > Payout Curves), the view modes enables users to see all the settings configured in the curve, without any edition capabilities.
Salary & bonus drawer view in Planner
A new drawer in which individual worker salary and bonus information is displayed is now available for managers in the Planner. Accessible via the comp round by clicking on the name of an individual worker in the compensation grid, this drawer opens on the right side of the application window, on top of the compensation grid, and displays ample information about the worker, such as their compensation history, their current salary information, their bonus eligibility, an overview of their situation, an overview of their goals, as well as the calculation rule for their goal achievement and their bonus.
With the expanded view on the worker's compensation and performance information offered by the worker information drawer, compensation managers now have all the data they need in a single place to make informed decisions during the comp round.
The following figure illustrates the drawer in the bonus view:
Worker bonus information in the Planner drawer
Additional comp round security
In this release, the security of the Planner, and specifically, the list of comp rounds within the Compensation section of the Planner was improved. Where previously, managers/compensation managers could see all rounds that were published or in progress, now they will see only the comp rounds that are assigned to them, i.e. the comp rounds in which they have direct or indirect reports.
This improvement not only brings clarity to the managers/comp managers regarding the actions they need to perform in the application, but also brings organization an additional layer of confidentiality when it comes to handling their comp processes.
Change of worker currency reflected in comp round audit trail
The Planner now checks worker currency each time a compensation round is republished. If the current currency differs from the one used in the original salary or bonus proposal, the system removes that figure from both Planner and the individual view and adds one audit-trail line with the element name and a Republished round tag. If the currency matches, the proposal and audit trail remain unchanged. This enhancement touches only the salary and bonus compensation elements.

Payroll data drop
The new Payroll data drop has been introduced to streamline post-compensation workflows between the beqom platform and third-party payroll systems by making it possible to define, configure, and export payroll-related data once the compensation process is complete. For this release (1.12), the scope is limited to the configuration part of the feature.
This brand new feature, integrated into the Compensation Management module, enables admin users to configure and download payroll data files specifically tailored to their external payroll systems. It becomes active after the compensation round is in progress. Users gain comprehensive configuration capabilities, allowing them to define a connection name and an optional description. They can select specific data entities and fields, drawing from both the compound data model and relevant compensation elements. Furthermore, users can determine the precise field order in the exported file to ensure alignment with their payroll system's requirements.
For connection management, configured payroll connections receive a "ready" status once saved. These ready connections can then be viewed, edited, and even duplicated for use in similar payroll setups, enhancing efficiency.
This feature is specifically designed for users who require structured and repeatable data exports to seamlessly feed external payroll systems following compensation events.

Compensation Round Editing and Pending Draft Status
The system now allows for the editing of compensation rounds within the Compensation Management module. Both "Daft" and "In-progress" compensation rounds can be edited. However, closed compensation rounds cannot be edited, but they can be duplicated.
When an "In-progress" compensation round is edited, the system automatically creates a second version of that round. This second version is then displayed in a tree structure within the list of compensation rounds. The edited round, initially, will not have a code type, start date, or end date set.
The user who edits the round becomes the owner of the new version, and it is assigned a "Pending draft" status. Users can directly access the edit mode by clicking on a round marked with the "Pending draft" status. Furthermore, users can save their changes and exit, receiving a "Save as a draft" confirmation message.

Payout curves
The latest update to payout curves delivers precise control over compensation distribution with refined configuration options for granular rounding based on individual performance, while also streamlining the setup process through improved filtering, validation, and usability.
Payout curve configuration
On the configuration side, payout curves are managed under Workbench > Compensation Management and are available to users with the compensation admin role. The new list view offers an overview of all payout curves, with filters for status (Ready, Draft or Deactivated), type (Step or Linear), and usage (whether or not it is assigned in a bonus plan). In addition, a search function lets users filter curves by name or partial name.
Payout curve creation
To create a payout curve, a new Create payout curve button guides users through a step-by-step setup process. The form includes required fields for Name and Code, with an optional description. The Payout curve settings section lets users define minimum and maximum ranges for results and payouts, choose a default unit such as percentage, select between Linear or Step curves, and set thresholds for achievement distribution. A real-time chart preview displays the payout curve as users configure it. New validation checks ensure all values comply with payout rules set by compensation administrators.
Payout curve management
Regarding management, validated payout curves can be published and made available for selection in bonus plans. A view mode lets users review payout curve settings without editing. The Duplicate option creates a copy of an existing curve for easy adjustments. Deactivation removes a curve from the list of available options in bonus plans. Usage details show where each curve is applied, with direct links to the associated bonus plans.
Limitations
It is not possible to edit published (Ready) payout curves. As a workaround, beqom recommends users duplicate the curve, edit the copy, and deactivate the original.

Bonus plans
Version 1.9 of the Pay Suite platform introduces an update to the bonus plans feature that enhances the configuration and management of bonus compensation rounds, allowing organizations to define structured payout models for employees. Compensation administrators can now set up, configure, and manage bonus plans efficiently under Workbench > Compensation Management, with a more structured approach, improved filtering, and new validation mechanisms to ensure accurate and efficient bonus distributions.
Bonus plan configuration
Bonus plan configuration is available under Workbench > Compensation Management in the Bonus Plans section for users with the compensation admin role. Users can view and manage bonus plans using filters for type (Discretionary bonus or STI with KPI curves) and status (Draft or Ready). A search function is also available to quickly find bonus plans by name or code.
Bonus plan creation
Creating bonus plans starts with a new Create bonus plan button that guides users through a step-by-step configuration wizard. The form requires entering a Name and Code, as well as selecting a Type (Discretionary bonus or STI with KPI curves). Selecting STI with KPI curves adds an extra configuration step for performance indicator goals, where users can upload and select a goal plan from Data management, limited to one goal plan per bonus plan. Goals are organized into types, each with configurable payout curve distribution and weight assignments. Validation checks ensure that all payout curves are assigned correctly.
Bonus calculation & factors
Bonus calculation and factors allow users to decide whether to include Leave of absence or Time in role in bonus calculations. A real-time preview of the bonus formula updates automatically based on the selected factors. Although the standard formula is defined during the bonus plan setup, it can be adjusted later under Bonus type in compensation rounds.
Bonus plan management
Bonus plans are first saved as drafts and can be edited until they are ready for publishing. Once validated, plans are published and move to the Ready status. A view mode lets users review all plan details, including payout curve distribution and calculation formulas.

Populations in compensation rounds
Version 1.9 introduces improvements to the population service that enhance the management of populations in compensation rounds. This release offers better control over worker selection, allowing compensation administrators to define populations dynamically, but also to manually include or exclude individual workers for increased flexibility and control in managing populations within compensation rounds, ensuring a smoother and more precise configuration process.
Population selection in compensation rounds
Compensation administrators can now attach predefined populations created in Workbench > Data Management > Populations when setting up compensation rounds. A new Compensation population summary section shows an overview of the selected populations along with any manually adjusted worker lists. The Population drop-down is now a required field to ensure that every compensation round has a defined population.
Manual worker adjustments
Manual worker adjustments enable compensation administrators to fine-tune population management by including or excluding specific employees. Admins can search for and add workers who are not part of the predefined population or remove workers to exclude them from the compensation round, even if they belong to a selected population. A search and selection tool makes it easy to find and manage workers for inclusion or exclusion. The summary overview updates automatically to display the number of predefined populations, manually included workers, and manually excluded workers.
Improved visibility & usability
Improved visibility and usability features include a top summary section that gives a quick view of the population distribution. Workers selected manually are listed in a dedicated table with clear statuses indicating whether they are included or excluded.

Date format and decimal & thousand separator settings
Version 1.8 introduces two new settings for date format and decimal/thousand separators in the Pay Suite application. These settings are applied across the whole platform, everywhere date formats and decimal/thousand separators are applicable.
These settings are available at two levels:
Platform-level: defined by the system administrator, the settings selected at platform-level are applied by default for all end-users, provided that the
End-user level: defined in the user preferences, the settings defined at end-user level override the platform-level settings.
Platform-level settings
The date format and the decimal/thousand separators are part of the application cultural settings. As such, they are tied to the default language selected for the platform; i.e. the selected language determines the default format of the dates and of the numbers. However, as of this version, it is now possible to customize this to an extent under Workbench > Platform Setup > Cultural Settings, as illustrated in the following figure:
Date and number formatting settings in Workbench
Two options are available for the date format:
Numeric: this format is used to display the date in short format, like 23/01/2025.
Alphanumeric: this format is used to display the date in abbreviated format, like 23 Jan 2025.
The decimal separators and thousand separators cannot be customized; they depend on the selected language. The Format preview section lets the administrator see a preview of the decimal & thousand separators, as well as of the date format.
User-level settings
When importing data into the Pay Suite platform, the Worker contains a mandatory parameter - PreferredLanguage - that determines the language for all end-users. If the PreferredLanguage field contains a value that is supported by the application, then the application will be set up in this language automatically and users can still change this preference in their user settings. If the value contained in the PreferredLanguage field is not one supported by the Pay Suite platform, then the default language of the platform is applied and users can the parameter in their user settings. Whatever the case, if a user preference different from the system default is defined in the user settings, this preference always overrides the system default.
The User settings page was improved in this release. It now contains a section called Language & format where the user can select the language and adjust the date display format, as illustrated in the following figure:
Date and number formatting settings in the user settings
Population selection during compensation round configuration
The latest version of the Pay Suite application enhances the compensation round configuration with the introduction of population service. It is now possible to select a predefined population, ensuring that the data model includes only the relevant workers. This improvement streamlines setup, reduces manual effort, and increases accuracy in compensation management, as illustrated in the following figure:
Predefined population selection
The Compensation population summary section does not yet display a count, but this functionality is set to arrive in the next release. Additionally, the ability to include or exclude individual workers will be introduced soon, offering even greater flexibility in defining compensation populations.
Bonus plans in Compensation Management
A new element has been introduced under Compensation Management, Bonus Plans, serving as the foundation for upcoming bonus compensation rounds. This addition lays the groundwork for a more structured and efficient bonus allocation process.
This version includes the first set of features that will support this functionality in future releases:
Bonus plan list: lists of all the bonus plans with summary cards at the top. In this view, the compensation admin can search for the relevant bonus plan by the name or code . It is possible to filter the list by Type and Status.
The following figure illustrates the bonus plan list:

Bonus plan creation: the creation of the bonus plan consist of several steps available in a standard wizard. The first step, Plan details, lets the user provide the name of the plan (required field) and its code (required field). A Description field (optional) is also available. At this step, the compensation admin can identify what type of the Bonus plan is needed. There are two types:
Discretionary bonus
STI: KPIs with payout curves
The following figure illustrates the configuration wizard of the Discretionary bonus plan type:

Population of the bonus plan: the second step of the bonus plan configuration wizard is Population. This step now works in the same way as the Population step of the compensation round currently, i.e. the user can select one or many predefined populations. The ability to include or exclude individual workers will be introduced soon, offering even greater flexibility in defining compensation populations.
At the moment, the only options in the bonus plan are Save & exit or Cancel. Save & exit creates the bonus plan in Draft status. The rest of the functionality will be released with the next version.
Payout curves in Compensation Management
Version 1.8 introduces a new element under Compensation Management: Payout Curves, acting as a key driver for bonus plan configuration and subsequent calculations in bonus compensation rounds. This addition establishes a structured framework for determining payouts, ensuring precision and flexibility in bonus management.
This version includes the first set of features that will support this functionality in future releases:
Payout curve list: lists of all the payout curves with summary cards at the top. In this view, the compensation admin can search for the relevant payout curve by the name or code . It is possible to filter the list by Type and Status.
The following figure illustrates the payout curve list:

Payout curve creation: the creation of a payout curve plan consist of several steps available in a standard wizard. The first step, Plan details, lets the user provide the name of the plan (required field) and its code (required field). A Description field (optional) is also available. At this step, the compensation admin can identify what type of the Bonus plan is needed.
The following figure illustrates the payout curve configuration wizard:

Payout curve settings: the second step of the wizard, Payout curve settings, offers clear on-page guidance to configure the payout curve. At this stage, the result range and payout range must be specified, both essential for ensuring payout curve validation.
The following figure illustrates the payout curve settings page:
Payout curve settings step
Next, the curve type is selected, with Linear curve set as the default option. Based on the defined result and payout ranges, it is then possible to create the thresholds distribution, providing a structured approach to payout calculations.
A chart of the distribution of the threshold, along with the description of the result and payout ranges, is automatically built in the Chart preview section.
At the moment, the only options in the payout curve are Save & exit or Cancel. Save & exit creates the payout curve in Draft status. The rest of the functionality will be released with the next version.

Dynamic snapshots for compensation rounds
The compensation round data now operates based on dynamic snapshots. Compensation admins can create the required data models under Workbench > Data Management > Data Modeler, and then link them to their compensation rounds.
When new data is ingested in Data Management, if the fields match those in the assigned data model for the compensation round, the compensation admins receive a notification. This notification appears in the compensation round list, as well as in the compensation round viewing and edition screens.
The following figure illustrates the notification displayed in the compensation round list:
Compensation round list notification
The notification in viewing and edition screens advises the compensation admins to run a validation report to assess the impact of the data changes, as illustrated in the following figure:
Data model change notification for compensation admin
Hierarchy and workflow authorization
With the release of version 1.7, the hierarchy selected in the compensation round now directly controls access permissions. The chosen hierarchy determines how authorization works, automatically granting compensation managers, line managers, and matrix managers the necessary permissions to access the Compensation section in Planner.
HR Business Partner access permissions remain managed separately. Their permissions still need to be assigned via .csv file configuration under Workbench > Platform Setup > Security & Roles > Professional Roles.
Hierarchy preview in the compensation round
With this release, compensation admins can now preview the selected hierarchy directly during the compensation round configuration. Once a hierarchy is selected, a visual tree displaying the structure of workers becomes available, offering a clear view of reporting relationships and managerial levels.
This enhancement allows Compensation Admins to verify the accuracy of the selected hierarchy before finalizing the configuration, ensuring alignment with the organization’s structure.
The following figure illustrates the preview of the hierarchy tree in the compensation round configuration page;

"Population" step of the compensation round
The Population step in the compensation round configuration has been updated to leverage the Population service of the Pay Suite application. At the moment, the page functions as a front-end-only interface. Until the Population service is fully integrated, all workers are included in the compensation round by default; workers need to be manually excluded from the comp round.
New population building step in the comp round configuration wizard
Reordering of the compensation round configuration steps
The order of the steps of the compensation round configuration wizard has been updated. The Hierarchy step now placed immediately after the Population step. This change ensures a more seamless, dynamic connection between the selected data and the compensation round, for more data accuracy and consistency throughout the process.

Validation reports
The validation report now generates a comprehensive data summary for the compensation round. It lists all workers along with the fields included in the data model linked to the compensation round. Additionally, it provides detailed information on each compensation element, including the budget and guidelines per every element.
Compensation admins can also access a Details section for each report, displaying the configuration of the compensation round at the time the report was generated, as illutrated in the following figure:
Validation report details
Within the Details section, compensation admins can add notes and view all previously added notes for the report. Each note includes a timestamp with the author's name, ensuring clear tracking of comments.
Selection of the reference field for compensation elements in the compensation round
Compensation admins can now select a reference field when configuring the compensation elements columns to be used in Planner. This option appears as a drop-down list, where users can select a specific field for reference. This configuration is only available while the compensation round is in Draft status.
The following figure illustrates the column configuration window with the reference field selection field:
Reference field selection for compensation element
Compensation round republishing enhancement
When a compensation admin republishes a compensation round that is in In Progress status, a warning message is now displayed, offering two options:
Keep the entries made by managers.
Delete the entries made by managers.
This added control enables compensation admins to manage data more carefully during an active compensation round. The action is also recorded in the Planner's Audit Trail, enabling managers to see the reason for the changes directly within the platform.
Compensation round workflow step edition enhancement
With this release, the editing options for workflow steps of compensation rounds in In Progress status have been adjusted. Compensation admins can now modify only the dates of the workflow steps. The ability to enable or disable workflow steps is restricted once a compensation round is in In Progress status.
Budget in the Planner for managers
Budget widgets are now available at the top of the Planner for Managers and HR Business Partners (HRBPs). These widgets display each compensation element assigned to the compensation round where budget rules are configured.
The widgets display respectively:
The total amount proposed for the manager’s workers.
The total budget allocated for those workers.
The following figure illustrates these widgets in the Planner:
Budget widgets in planner
When hovering over the widget, a tooltip provides additional details:
Eligible Workers: number of workers eligible for the compensation element.
Budget: total budget based on the configured budget rules.
Allocated: amount already proposed and saved for the workers.
Remaining: difference between the Budget and Allocated amounts.
The widgets update automatically as managers or HRBPs submit proposals for the compensation elements.
Audit trail in Planner
Planner now includes an audit trail for each compensation round, capturing a detailed record of all changes made. It notably tracks:
Adjustments made to workers' compensation by managers and HRBPs.
Republishing actions performed by the compensation admin, including the specific changes applied to workers.
Filters can be applied to the audit trail for more precise tracking. Available filters include:
Date Range
Editor
Actions
Worker
Updated Field
Workflow Stage
These filtering options help compensation admins quickly review specific updates and monitor activity more effectively.
The following figure illustrates the use of filters in the Planner audit trail:

Rule name uniqueness in compensation rounds
There is now a validation mechanism that checks the name of the rules when configuring compensation rounds. This is applied to the Eligibility, Budget and Guidelines steps of the compensation round configuration wizard.

Budget step of the compensation round - Target budget section
We enhanced the capabilities of the user with Compensation admin professional role. When configuring the compensation round in the Budget step, a new section called Target budget is available to this user. This new section is illustrated below:
'Target budget' section
This section reflects the cards for each compensation element assigned in the compensation round. It is possible to enter a numeric value for each card/element, as presented below:
'Target budget' pop-up
Target budget card with numeric value
This will help the compensation admin track the configuration done in the budget step by entering the top possible value of the budget foreseen for the given compensation round. The possibility to check it will be available at the Validation step of the compensation round.
The section is collapsible and expandable. By default it displays eight cards maximum (if 8 elements are assigned in the compensation round). In case there are more than 8 cards, it is possible to see the rest after clicking the Load more button.
Decimal precision setting
With the 1.6 release, users with the compensation admin professional role are also able to set the necessary decimal precision for all the fields of type 'decimal' while configuring the Team planner view step of the compensation round. The Configure column pop-up is presented on the illustration below:
The 'Configure column' pop-up
This will help to curate the view of the digits after the decimal separator on the Planner view for the users with manager access or users with HRBP professional role.
By default, all the decimal fields are set to 2 and the selections rages from 0 to 8.
Validation step of the compensation round
From 1.6 release, users with the compensation admin professional role are able to access a new step called Validation during the configuration process of the compensation round, as illustrated in the following figure:
'Validation' step
This step provides the possibility for the compensation admin to generate, in Excel form, a report which contains all the fields and columns enabled for the Planner view and list of workers eligible in the given compensation round. This report will help see the distribution of the amounts across workers and make sure that everything is set correctly. The validation report can be generated only by the owner or co-owner of the compensation round.
There are actions possible for the generated report, namely download, rename, and delete, as illustrated in the following figure:
Report actions
When downloading the report, the user must define a password for the file, which will have to be used later when opening the excel file. This functionality is important because of the confidential data inside the file (such as list of workers and their compensation). The following figure illustrates the Download report:
Download report pop-up
The possibility to generate a validation report exists for published and in progress compensation rounds in both view and edit modes.
Hierarchy step of the compensation round
Before 1.6 release, the Hierarchy step of the compensation round contained a preselected hierarchy: the Standard hierarchy. From now on, users with the compensation admin professional role are able to select which hierarchy should be applied for the compensation round.
Four standard hierarchies are available for the compensation admin to select: Line Manager, Matrix Manager, Communication Manager, and Compensation Manager, as illustrated in the following figure:
Four standard hierarchies
This step is now mandatory when configuring the compensation round.
Compensation round deletion
With the 1.6 release, we introduced the possibility for users with the compensation admin professional role to delete compensation rounds, as illustrated in the following figure:

beqomPay Suite 1.5
Complete Tree of Compensation Elements
Compensation tree allows you to manage all relevant compensation elements collected in it. Compensation element is an item that can be attributed to a payee such as salary allowance, bonus, etc. They correspond in the individual plan, to the actual line items to which a manager will be able to add an amount.
beqom offers you a set of 66 compensation elements collected into a compensation tree in order to have standardization and proper data connection. At the same time, we grant the possibility to create custom compensation elements that beqom will create assignment and eligibility of.
The compensation elements can be found under Workbench > Compensation builder > Compensation tree & elements in Pay Suite if Compensation feature is enabled. At any point it is possible to disable or enable compensation elements in the tree.
The Compensation tree & elements page is illustrated below:
